Kindergarten Facts and Information:
Snack:
Snack MUST be packaged, not homemade. Each child will bring their daily snack and put it in their individual bins Mrs. Oliphant will bring the snack for the first week.
Homework:
You will get weekly activities on our class google drive. These are optional, but suggested! You will also have a weekly folder going back and forth. Any books that come home in the folder can stay in your book nook bag (Dr. Seuss bag)! Your folders are the way to communicate back and forth with me....please do not lose these folders! Please work with your child to make that their daily responsibility.
Book Orders:
Each month we will have book orders. This will be through an online order option only.
Bus:
When you are changing how your child is going home during the day, I ask for a NOTE each time. I don't always get a chance to check email, etc at the end of the day.
Cell Phone:
I do not give out my personal cell phone number. Please respect this decision.
Parent Letter:
Each week, you will receive a weekly parent letter sharing information about the week. This information will also be on our website and google drive.
Attendance:
Attendance is very important!! Please set the habit of good attendance. Your child will need to bring in a note stating the reason for his or her absence when they return to school. DO NOT SEND your child when they are sick! I will help them make up anything important. I do not want kids in school when sick!
Birthdays:
We do celebrate birthdays in Kindergarten. Your child will receive a small "gift" from me. If you would like to bring in a special snack on your child's birthday, please feel free to do so! I ask that if you are sending birthday party invitations to school that you either send enough for all the class, or just the "gender" of your child. It makes it very difficult when only a few kids are invited. Please do not hand out invitations on the playground- as a way around this--kids and your teacher are very savvy and smart! This eliminates hard feelings and any problems in the classroom!
Parent Volunteers:
I will NOT be having parent volunteers in the classroom this year due to COVID-19.
One last thing:
Yes, your child is going to come home the first week of school stating that I wear hearing aides. I am not "required" to have them, but have a hereditary loss and choose to wear them to hear my soft spoken mother and the most soft spoken child. If you are walking behind me and I do not answer, please do not take offense! I need to "see you"! I share this with the kids on the first day of school so they can see just how different and "funky" we all are!
One More Last Thing:
I come from a double immune compromised household. My daughter has severe asthma and my husband has an autoimmune and blood disorder. My husband is at "severe risk" to get COVID-19. While taking precautions or considering precautions, please consider their safety. I will work just as hard to keep your child safe.
