My name is Mrs. Oliphant.
The 2020-21 school year will begin my 29th year of teaching. How can that be? I am married to a teacher and the daughter of 2 teachers. I grew up in Minnesota, where my dad eventually became a park ranger. That means I grew up living in a park. The house I lived in was built by the CCC and is now listed as a historical building on a national registry. Isn't that cool??? It was pretty awesome!
I have taught 1/2 day Kindergarten, All Day Kindergarten, First Grade, and Special Education from elementary through high school levels. At one time, I even taught college age "kids"! I have taught in WA, MN, and NV. I have Elementary and Special Education degrees from the University of North Dakota. I also have a master's degree in Literacy Instruction and an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education. In the summer, I teach special ed summer school and love to work in my yard. I have 3 kids. One is a front-line worker in Minnesota who is applying to medical school, one is junior in college in South Dakota playing football and studying criminal justice, and one is in high school at SCHS. You will see her cheering at games!
In my free time (it never happens), I enjoy reading, writing, singing, exercising, watching my kids sports activities, camping, traveling and creating digital photo albums for my family. I love the letter J and the color yellow! You will see I also love Dr. Seuss!!!
I love, love, love teaching and cannot wait to learn more about your child! I believe every child is unique, special, and important. I love Kindergarten because it is the starting point and I love teaching them all about school!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions about your child. You can contact me through email or by calling the school at 753-6881.
